‘My artworks are inspired by fertility, nature’s organic forms and biodiversity. I have always been fascinated by unusual and vibrant colour combinations that are abundant in nature. Careful studies of insects, plants, sea life, wildlife, flaura and fauna have helped me discover a new perspective and enabled me to investigate a whole imaginary world. During the creative process, I explore the mystery of life, viewing nature as a source of joy, but also observing its dark side.

Initially, I work with oil colours for the base. I subsequently integrate printing ink by dripping it onto the canvas and work with its ‘honey-like’ viscosity to create depth and texture. By doing this, I can inject movement, energy and rhythm, which is distinctive and characteristic of my style. The outcome reflects my optimistic and dynamic outlook on life as a whole.’ Penny Manavi
